Phil is challenged with mastering the advanced skills and arcane knowledge of the island while likewise engaged in a vicious secret struggle with persons both known and unknown to maintain the safety and secrecy of the island. Both efforts have a profound effect on Phil. Some of these effects are wondrous, others are horrific. Many are saved. Many die.

The book features science, philosophy, politics, history, religion, drama, action and even a bit of mystery against a backdrop of “hard” science fiction, supported by a substantial body of background research. Oneiro was designed to be plausibly medium to fast paced, credible and meaningful, but not without a sprinkling of fun and humor. Despite its broad diversity, it flows in a cohesive and straightforward presentation. The objective being to entertain the reader with a satisfying story, illuminated with some interesting new perspectives and concepts.

Oneiro IV Apotheosis

Oneiro IV Apotheosis

Oneiro IV Apothesis

Synopsis

This singular story describes the unfolding phylogenesis of Philip Carr, a strikingly gifted young lawyer in midtown Manhattan—which took him from New York, to Oneiro, a hitherto nameless island in the Aegean Seas, to the icy, lightless deeps of Earth’s oceans, to the most remote regions of deepest space.
The first stop on his cosmic odyssey: Kosmas. The planetary home to the finest minds in the galaxy, acting as the institution of the most advanced learning in the cosmos for literally millions of years.
As was slowly, methodically and meticulously revealed to Phil, he had a destiny of immense cosmic importance: Verteror. A creature unique in all the universe. Gifted with the amazing ability to directly communicate with and command ultra-sub-atomic particulates known as SNA (Sub-Atomic Nucleic Apperception).
SNA, as must, are immortal, near omniscient, and capable of assembling and reassembling matter and energy into every conceivable form, at the most profoundly particulate level. Perhaps they are the consciousness of the universe? They are an ancient, seminal and fundamental element of the cosmos; and the key to Phil’s ascension to Verteror, and the Verteror’s approaching imperium of the universe.
But first, he must learn and master his calling. The Kosmin were quite pleased to provide Phil mentors, advisors and spacecraft to assist in pursuing this goal. With excellent result. But not without intermediate disasters. One of the great risks of Verteration was the inadvertent, near instantaneous propagation of a fundamental force know as Resumptive Reticulation. Reticulation defies the most powerful forces in the universe in terms of destruction and reach, and during his inculcation, millions of beings were destroyed along with hundreds of celestial bodies.
Complicating and compounding the severity of Phil’s labors is the raging onslaught of two living nebulae. One, “harvests” planet-by-planet, sentients who have achieved sufficient intellectual maturity. The other obliterates all remaining life on such planets, leaving them a totally sterile stage upon which to restart life. Phil’s challenges are therefore threefold and deadly.
Adding to Phil’s burdens, much of the populace of Kosmas begin to regard him as a deity, along with his own crew; and Phil’s burgeoning skills do little to dispel their idolatry. Soon his worshipers grow into the millions.
These many forces finally vortex into a colossal crisis and Phil remains largely alone in his universe, forcing him into a draconian solution with consequences for the universe itself. It also forces Phil into a climactic reckoning with who and what he really has become and what his ultimate roll in the cosmos might be.

Shadow Fade

Synopsis

If you’re truly insane, do you know it?

You may toil at science and art and any manner of worthy pursuits. You may work for the betterment of man and fellow creatures. Perhaps you attract other psychotics? If so, do you know they’re crazy too? Strangely, life for those thus afflicted can also be quiet, contemplative, cerebral, even idyllic … until people start dying.

This is the story of three such people.

The French Riviera. One of the most exciting and glamorous spots on Earth. Money, dazzling hotels and restaurants, yachts worth millions, villas worth far more. A living cliché, populated by assorted characters ranging from millionaires, to movie stars, to despots, to charlatans, to artists … and murderers. Saints, sinners, schizos and sun-seekers, and a great deal more. A land alive with beauty, culture and history, despite all the glitz.

Coirón sur Mer. At the western margin of the Riviera lies the picture-postcard village of Coirón. A neighbor to nearby St. Tropez, yet far removed from the glitz, the glamour, and the money. A breathtaking medieval village extravagantly adorned with flowers, nestled in a tiny valley opening onto the sea. Beautiful. Quiet. Peaceful and recently quite deadly.

Katherine Susan Day Woods. American. Wealthy. Intelligent. Lovely and wonderfully happy. A contented resident of Coirón, immersed in the snug warmth of a fine marriage, a beautiful estate, amongst good friends. A fairytale life framed in a fairytale village on the Côte d’Azur.

In the course of but a few weeks, her town, her home, her marriage, her life, darken under a cloud of savage murders and a very singular insanity. She finds, to her horror, she lies at the nexus of these atrocities. Soon she discovers she also lies at the core of their deliverance. Then her crisis escalates into a very real, very palpable danger. Remarkably, she concludes salvation lies in yet, another murder. A dark tale, with an enlightened approach to human frailty, describing the twilight journeys of three people who (often foolishly) believe they are finding their way….
