Autobiography

John Goldenberg is an American author living and writing between the South of France and Luxembourg. He is the owner of a luxury boutique hotel in St Paul de Vence.

John studied Music Theory & Composition at Lamar University. He underwent undergraduate studies at George Mason University in Virginia, and graduate studies at George Washington University in Washington D.C.

He has lived and worked in over forty countries writing everything from advertising copy to functional specifications, as well as Science Fiction, Historical Fiction and General Fiction.

Arthur C. Clarke probably had the greatest influence on his work and he includes Kurt Vonnegut and Douglas Adams as favorite authors. John has visited Clarke at his home in Sri Lanka and acquainted Vonnegut in Reykjavik.

His writing emphasizes ‘hard’ science fiction against a back-drop of realism, mystery and action, spiced with sprinklings of dark irony…ranging through art, music, language, physics, cosmology, genetic biology, even cuisine.

John on France:

Every man has two countries,  his own and France.

Benjamin Franklin

Ever since I was a young man living in Paris, I’ve greatly enjoyed the role of outsider - alien and external to the culture  in which I am thrust. I’ve lived and worked all over the   world, thus this is a persona I have become quite comfortable with –  even in my native America.

To be constantly forgiven for stupidity,  faux-pas, and assorted cultural blunders is indeed a pleasing role.   It is both liberating and encouraging to conduct myself exactly as I wish.  This may explain quite a bit to friends over the years; and hopefully it spills over into my writing.

Of all the cultures I have lived, France is the easiest.  None but the French cast so blind an eye on one-another’s predilections.

Master Franklin knows well whereof he speaks.
